Turner & Townsend Volunteers Celebrate 5 Year Milestone of Beautifying Community Housing in Ottawa

In August 2021, a group of 20 volunteers performed a makeover at the Lowertown Good Neighbours Community House in downtown Ottawa. This year’s event is a milestone, it was their fifth year of volunteering in Ottawa’s OCH communities.

Volunteers repainted the shed, fixed the deck ramp and planted flowers in concrete planters throughout the community.

Ottawa-based employees from Turner & Townsend have been completing projects in OCH communities since 2016. Here are some of the projects they have completed:

  • Interior painting at the Pinecrest Terrace Community House in 2016

  • Clearing overgrowth and painting fences at Woodland Place in 2017

  • Building planter benches at Walkley Road and clearing overgrowth at Heather Manor in 2018

  • Repairing fences, fence painting, and overgrowth removal at Ashgrove in 2019

  • Repairing a deck ramp, painting an outdoor shed and planting concrete planters at the Lowertown Good Neighbours Community House 2021

In total, more than 2,000 tenants have benefitted from community improvements performed by Turner & Townsend’s volunteers.

Thanks to continued support from our partners, OCH’s Volunteer Engagement Program continues to have a big impact on tenants.
